Dimples knew this task would not be easy so she spent much of 2007 planning what would be SweetHeat Miami’s inaugural events. Since a large part of her DJ career was spent in clubs on South Beach, she decided to make it the epicenter for the weekend’s events. She allied with clubs and people that she had established relationships with and soon her dreams were realized on May 15-18, 2008.
That weekend, SweetHeat Miami welcomed more than 1,000 ladies from across the United Stated who, like Dimples, weren’t prepared for how great a time was had. It goes to show that a bright sun, a sandy beach and a beautiful bikini can’t be denied. If you didn’t believe Cindi Lauper when she sang “Girl’s just want to have fun..” you did that weekend.
In 2009, expectations were surpassed as over 8,000 ladies filled the streets of South Beach to experience what some had gotten a taste of the year before. To say the least, the venues were packed and celebrity guests were excited to participate after hearing word of its success the year prior.
Ultimately, SweetHeat Miami is unique in that it is the ONLY continuous party on South Beach catering to African-American and Hispanic women. The atmosphere since its start has always been one of celebration, appreciation and acceptance of whom and what these women represent both in their personal lives and as a community.
The response from our target audience is at an all-time high. We have received feedback from those who have already started making preparations. We cannot wait to share the surprises we have in store. If you haven’t started making preparations, the time is now! LET’S GO!

Our favorite reality television CELESBIAN – Blu of Bad Girls Club Season 12 sits down with TheSource magazine and lets us in a little more into her world. Checkout what you may have missed here! Then click here For the full Blu Interview
Thesource.com: Welcome to Richmond, is this your first time here?
Blu: Thank you, yes it is my first time, I wanted to come here…..hold up this is my part.(Referring to KeKe Wyatt singing ‘If only you knew’ on her computer) She don’t get the recognition she deserves. She’s probably one of the best singers since Whitney Houston…she is crazy; however every woman is a little crazy. I feel like she has a reason, we all have our own reason, people judge celebrities so much.
Thesource.com: What was life like growing up?
Blu: From the age of 6 to 23 my life was mapped out. I knew I was going to school and going to practice. The majority of my life I played basketball and went to school that’s what I did. I got my bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Thesource.com: Do you ever think about going back to school?
B: That’s what I wanted to do but I didn’t wanna um… (Pausing looking out in front of her) it’s consequences to everything you do. I had a full ride on basketball; I was in the position to go back to school for free once I was finished with my undergrad. I got into a fight my senior year of college and I was suspended for 190 days. I got out of the school mentality when I got kicked out of college and I was like, I don’t wanna go back. I don’t have any regrets though.
(Tevin Campbell comes on and Blu stops to sing)
Blu: I love RnB.
Thesource.com: Who is your favorite artist?
Blu: I’m a Brian McKnight fan all day long. Brian McKnight is my favorite artist.
Thesource.com: What’s your favorite genre of music?
Blu: Gospel, I could listen to a gospel song and start crying right now, that’s my church, it speaks to me. My grandma a preacher, she a lo-key thug.
Thesource.com: Let’s talk about Bad Girls Club, seems like everyone on the show is a lesbian, is that one of the requirements to get on the show?
Blu: I don’t know what it takes to get on Bad Girls Club, I tell everyone to just be yourself.
Thesource.com: So are you into men or women?
Blu: I think I’m just living. (as she laughs)
Kill The Lights Entertainment
Is an up-incoming independent record label created by Jeseca Spencer. Checkout the rise of Generation “We Got Next.”
Jeseca Spencer -” I met Mike(Mike Dino) through my ex girlfriend (that is her little brother). The first time I saw him was with my ex. She and I were coming back to her house, and once we went inside we saw her bother and his friend, KeChon (Y’K), sitting around just freestyling. When I heard them I thought, “Man there is no way they are so young sounding this good.” After they were done I came up to them and asked if they had a mananger, and if they were serious about taking on this career. They both said yes, since then I have been working with them, growing with them.
I started working with them because they were young. Both of them were freshman in high school when I first met them (they are juniors in high school now), so I figured it would be great to start off with a young group. I though this because I knew not only could I grow with them physically, I could also grow with them musically. I knew that no one else would work with them because they were so young at the time and I wanted to scoop them up before anyone else did. And I also did not want to work with anyone older.
I see them doing big things. I see them being independent, but of course they would be working up under my label (Kill the Lights Ent.). If you notice now a days many big artist are not signed to big labels. Most of them are independent artist. I can see Kill the Lights Ent, becoming big if we (my team and I) stay positive and not give up on our passion.
Kechon Freeman- ( Y’K)
My manager Jeseca got me into rapping again after our Kill the Lights group broke up. She hit me up about a about a while later and asked did we want to get back into raping as solo artist and I said I was wit it, So here I am. The only person I look up to in music is Starlito because he is the only person in my city (Nashville) that I seen actually come up and make it out of Nashville. Where do I see myself in 5 years? I honestly think I’ll be selling out shows and touring everywhere.
Michael Robertson- (Mike Dino)
I got into music when I was in 4th grade cause it was just something to do. I really started rap by free styling because that’s what we use to do when we were bored. I was basically influenced on myself but then artist like Meek Mill, Kendrick Lamar, p. Rico and lil Jay came so I was like Yhea its my time to shine.. and that’s whats happening as we speak.
Oh Grandpa is a four-piece Blues/Rock/Funk outfit from the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee. Michael Aldrich (Vocals/Keys), Jared Thompson (drums), Gil Costello(Bass), and Kevin Douds (Guitar) came together in 2012. Described as both “a New Orleans funk-band from Tennessee” and “funky Rage Against the Machine,” OG is heavily inspired by music greats like Led Zeppelin, Jerry Lee Lewis, and The Meters. “[Oh Grandpa] draws influence from funk, rock, and blues with a very punk rock sensibility of pleasing their own aesthetics before anything else,” says the Deli Magazine, “Luckily, what Oh! Grandpa likes is right in line with what Deli readers like.” Since their founding, the Grandpas have gained a noticeable foot-hole in the Murfreesboro and Nashville live music scene, and they self-financed and released their first recording, the “OG EP.” Be prepared to see and hear more from Oh Grandpa in 2015, as they plan on touring around the South, dominating Nashville, and recording their next EP.

Cierra Wilson was born on September 22nd, in Cleveland, OH. She is the 3rd born, first daughter of 9 children. Growing up, her mother worked two jobs to maintain a household and nurture her children alone. Her father, a known street hustler, spent majority of her childhood in and out of the prison systems. At 13, she was introduced to the brutal streets of Cedar Heights along Cedar Avenue Projects. In an effort to avoid distractions and negative influence she would spend her spare time visiting local libraries. Literature and the internet allowed her to explore a world beyond her own. Despite her efforts to evade the lifestyle, she fell into the game herself. There Jimmii Montana was born from a hustlers depiction of her. He said she “had the swag of Jim Jones and the demeanor of Tony Montana.” She was 14. Jimmii later gave up the streets and picked up a pen & pad. She began writing poetry, to release her tension. A year later, she released her first song; a poem she’d written and recorded over Ashanti’s “Baby” musical instrumental. The response was overwhelmingly positive. Her supporters reactions encouraged her to enter local radio rap contests, compete and win. Jimmii knew music was her calling.
Since 2010, Jimmii has been performing shows around the country and abroad. She released her first mixtape “Hello World” May 6, 2014 on Datpiff.com, receiving over 1000 downloads in a week. Her supporters have been continually spreading the word about her, allowing her music to reach over 6.2K subscribers on YouTube, 11.9K followers on Twitter and 24K followers on Instagram. She is currently working on her first EP “#TruthOverFame” set to release early 2015.
