ORLANDO BLACK PRIDE
OrlandoBlackPride was started in June 2002. WET Promotions’ held their first and only event at the Four Point Sheraton Downtown featuring OOHZEE! 2003, Official name Orlando Black Pride was used for the first time. Events at the Best Western Movieland and they had two parties. 2004, 2nd Annual Orlando Black Pride Weekend at Ramada Gateway Hotel featuring K-Rock, Rolo,Oohzee, Kiss, DJ Phat Kat, and several other entertainers. That year hosting four events. 2005, we organized 8 events this year and started on Thursday thru Sunday night. Held at Sheraton World. We literally turned this place upside down! 1500 people attended our Saturday night party! This was the first year we held our POOL PARTY & EXPO at the Orlando Vista Hotel. 2006, Graduated to 9 Events All held at Legacy Grand Hotel. We took over this place and turned it into a Gay Resort for four days. Remy VSOP & The Daily Buzz TV Show sponsored us. 2007 was called “HOLLYWOOD! It ain’t for Everybody! Mulit-event weekend with our first Fashion Show, GLBT Roundtable discussion…12 Events 2008 First All White Party, sponsored by Imperia Vodka & Remy VSOP, our first year working with HRC and they sent a National Rep to speak to us. Our first year holding a party at PIRATES and we had a woman swimming in life size fish bowl!! 16 Events. We also had Jacki-O & Trina this year! 2009 Collaborated with Harbor House about Domestic Violence, Ann Wolfe 8x World Boxing Champion, 17 Events. Orlando Vista Hotel became our OFFICIAL Black Gay Pride Hotel. 2010 Orlando Vista Hotel. 20 Events, Airtran, COWP, GayCities, Mount Gay Rum, Florida Dept of Health. 2011 – Incredible list of Corporate Sponsors such as Pinnacle Vodka, Budweiser, Fifth Third Bank. Added a Live Band featuring B.SLADE aka Tonex! Also, had a important forum called “Gays in the Black Church”. 2012 – OBP’s 10th Birthday Celebration! We’re very excited about this accomplishment! We celebrated our birthday with So So Def Artist DONDRIA & VH1 Basketball Wives KENYA BELL! Our first year working with the internet popular sensation JUICEBOXX. While many Pride organization have folded or disarray, OBP has managed to strive for a decade! 2013 – First year OBP had it’s own App. Hosted our first Minority Business Networking function. The only party in Orlando that can legally serve drinks after 2am. We hosted LGBT Beach Day in Daytona Beach.
